Canadian Scholarships for Nigerian Students 2024

1. Concordia International Scholars Program

Concordia International Scholars Program through Concordia university offers one of the most comprehensive awards for international students including Nigerians.

The award is presented to two deserving full-time students who will be pursuing university education for the first time.

2. Université de Montréal Exemption Scholarship for International Students

Université de Montréal Exemption Scholarship for International Students is a scholarship program organized by the university of Université de Montréal for outstanding students from all over the world including Nigerian students.

UdeM is a Francophone institution based in Montreal, Quebec and the scholarship program aims to attract brilliant students from other countries including Nigeria.

3. Quebec Excellence Scholarship Program

Scholarship Amount: CAD 14,000$/$11,150 a year for three years
Eligible Degree: Technical training/CEGEP for up to three years

The Quebec Excellence Scholarship Program is also established for international students from all over the world including Nigerian students who wish to study in Quebec.

The award is funded by the Ministry of Higher Education of Quebec and comes with a tuition waiver of CAD 14,000$/$11,150 a year for three years.

4. Quebec Merit Scholarships for Foreign Students

The Quebec merit scholarship is one of the scholarships established to help students who wish to further their education beyond undergraduate studies. The scholarship opportunity is open to PhD students or postdoctoral degree studies. But students who wish to study professional development programs are also considered.

5. McGill University One-Year Entrance Scholarship

McGill University is one of the destinations for international students in Canada; about 32.2% of the university’s entire population are students from other countries of which Nigerian students make up a significant percentage of the students studying at the university.

The McGill University one-year entrance scholarship is worth CAD 3,000/$2,390 for a year.

6. York University International Student Scholarships

This is another Canadian scholarship for Nigerian students. Below are the eligibility criteria:

Interested applicants must have a study permit to pursue studies in Canada
Applicants must have directly applied to York University
Maintain an excellent academic performance through high school with a minimum A grade or its equivalent

Scholarship Worth: 1,000 CAD to 35,500 CAD (which is 57,650 INR to 20,46,545 INR)

7. Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship Program at the University of Toronto

Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship at the University of Toronto is established to reward international students, including Nigerian students who possess excellent academic achievement and are leaders and are actively involved in community services.

The award is given to honour exceptional international students studying in Universities and colleges including high schools in Canada. Each year the award is given to about 37 most successful candidates who met the eligibility requirements.

University of British Columbia Scholarships for International Students

Every year the University of British Columbia recognizes the talent and accomplishments of its current and ongoing international students, including students who are of Nigerian origin and over CAD 200 million is given annually for scholarships, honours, grants, and loans.

In the 2018/2019 academic session, the University of British Columbia spent a total of CAD 325.9 million as financial aid to support full-time students of the institution.
